Donald E. Lewis Family Fund – A retired beverage distributor created a fund to educate his family on the importance of philanthropy in their home county.
Anonymous Advisory Fund – A retired postal worker wanted to give back to the town that was so good to his family – for generations. He donates to the local food pantry and educational programs annually.
Dooley Family Fund – One of the Foundation’s founding board members created this fund to prove first–hand the benefits of a Community Foundation. The family has supported children’s programs and land preservation programs through grant funds.
James & Karlen Cooney Family Fund – This fund represents the giving spirit of a native McHenry County family that has served the area through civil, judicial and social work for decades. They have supported educational and youth programs.
Judith Porter Fund – A retired elementary teacher found the Community Foundation and was thrilled to know she could continue to support her favorite charities – a food pantry and women’s shelter to name a few – through the Foundation.
The Belle Allen Fund – This family fund was established by a Crystal Lake family who wanted a vehicle to support their favorite charitable organizations in McHenry County. A Fund at MCCF allowed them to continue their charitable giving without the administrative burden.
Full Circle Family Fund – This fund was established by a McHenry County family wanting to give back to their community through philanthropic giving to charitable organizations throughout their county.
Anonymous Family Fund – County residents created a family fund to carry out general charitable giving in McHenry County.
Carol & Minno Halma Family Fund – Woodstock residents that support needs in the areas of conservation, music education, genealogy, and library studies.
Streit Family Fund – A Crystal Lake family created this fund to support charitable organizations serving McHenry County with particular focus on helping enable their church children’s music program to continue in response to tight budgetary times.
Anonymous Fund – A Crystal Lake resident, in her estate plan left a generous donation to the McHenry County Community Foundation. The executor of this estate established a donor advised fund to support general charitable purposes within McHenry County.
Nursing Program – A McHenry family created this fund to support the addition of a certified nursing program at our County College following personal need for at–home nursing care.
Family Health Partnership Clinic – Established through an anonymous donor for designated support of services provided through the Family Health Partnership Clinic.
Fox River Grove Parks – Created to support a growing community’s parks and other charitable purposes within the Village of Fox River Grove. Donations are collected and forwarded to the Foundation through a citizens group in support of recreational programming and safe community parks.
Land Conservancy – Through private donation, this designated endowment fund was opened to support land preservation projects to maintain, monitor and manage the property northeast of the intersection of Randall Road and Acorn Lane in Lake in the Hills, McHenry County, IL.
Woodstock Christian Life Services – This fund was established to help support the capitals of Woodstock Christian Life Services. It has served as a motivating tool for supporters of Woodstock Christian Life Services in planning for the future.
JourneyCare Foundation Endowment Fund – This fund was established as a part of the McHenry County Community Foundation 10th Anniversary NPO Matching Event Challenge. Grants from this endowment are distributed annually to help support the operations of the Hospice Foundation. Donations to this fund need to be made out to Hospice Foundation.
Adult & Child Therapy Endowment Fund – This fund was established as a part of the McHenry County Community Foundation 10th Anniversary NPO Matching Event Challenge. Grants from this endowment are distributed annually to help support the operations of Adult & Child Therapy. Donations to this fund need to be made out to Adult & Child Therapy.
Family Alliance Endowment Fund – This fund was established as a part of the McHenry County Community Foundation 10th Anniversary NPO Matching Event Challenge. Grants from this endowment are distributed annually to help support the operations of Family Alliance. Donations to this fund need to be made out to Family Alliance.
Options & Advocacy Endowment Fund – This fund was established as a part of the McHenry County Community Foundation 10th Anniversary NPO Matching Event Challenge. Grants from this endowment are distributed annually to help support the operations of Options & Advocacy. Donations to this fund need to be made out to Options & Advocacy.
Unrestricted Fund – Available for donations without designation to maintain the MCCF grants program, public services and programs, and some operational support.
MCCF Directors Fund – Created by the McHenry County Community Foundation Board of Directors in support of operations and emergency grants.
Operational Fundraising – Created to raise funds directed to run daily operations at the Community Foundation thereby strengthening our ability to deliver vital philanthropic services.
Field of Interest
Ruth Frejd Memorial Fund – Created through a CRUT from the estate of George and Ruth Frejd for the benefit of the City of Woodstock, and to the extent possible, the Challenger Learning Center. The amounts to be used for any of these specified uses shall be determined by the McHenry County Community Foundation at its sole discretion.
Community WORKS Fund – The Community Foundation is participating in a program with the Grand Victoria Foundation to support of investigative efforts in the areas of child care, land use and preservation, and workforce development.
Latino Fund – Created through financial support from County banks and businesses that work closely with Latino Citizens, this fund was established to provide a financial source to grant funds to Latino programs/projects in McHenry County.
Sara Kathleen Schacht Memorial Fund – This fund was established by family members of a 17–year old girl who died of heart failure. In her memory, funds are collected to purchase defibrillators for schools and other government facilities, such as park districts, police departments, and other organizations who serve the McHenry County Community.
Woodstock Lions Club Scholarship Fund – This fund was established to allow the Woodstock Lions Club to continue an annual scholarship program for graduating seniors who reside within the boundaries of Woodstock School District #200
Joe Carnes Scholarship Fund – This fund was created by close friends and family of Joe Carnes, a Crystal Lake South High School graduate and pilot from Crystal Lake, IL in memory of his belief in the importance of education. Scholarships are awarded to deserving applicants from CL South High School who model the values of Joe with particular preference given to applicants pursuing degrees in aviation, education or community service.
Erling K. Nor Memorial Scholarship Fund – This fund was established through the estate of Erling K. Nor to support college scholarships for high school graduates of Alden–Hebron High School District #19.
Types of Funds Available
Designated Funds – You can direct your gift to a specific nonprofit organization or purpose. Help provide ongoing funding for a senior center, museum, or virtually any nonprofit charitable organization.
Donor Advised Funds – These funds provide grant dollars to charitable programs of interest to the individuals who establish the funds.
Field Of Interest Funds – You can target your gift to address needs in important areas of community life. Arts. Aging. At–risk youth. You identify your personal interest areas when making your gift: our board awards grants to community organizations and programs that are making a difference in the area you select.
Endowment Funds – These are set up to enable other nonprofit organizations to place their endowment funds with the community foundation. Nonprofit organizations can use an Endowment Fund through the McHenry County Community Foundation to build their endowment and enhance their ability to accept large and complex gifts. The community foundation distributes the available grant dollars back to these agencies for their general purpose.
Operating Funds – These are funds that are established to assist with the cost of the operating of the foundation with only the income from the fund being used.
Scholarship Funds – You can invest your gift in our community’s future and show student you care. All with the guidance and personal services of the McHenry County Community Foundation. You determine the criteria students must meet to receive the Scholarship you establish. With your assistance, students achieve their academic and career–oriented goals—from preschool to postgraduate work.
Unrestricted Funds – This type of fund enables the Community Foundation to issue financial support to various County non–profit organizations through an annual grants program.
